Vertical Farming is an example of ideas and designs that focuses on mixing agriculture and city life. It anticipates on (and makes us aware of) the growth of the world population and on the growth of urban areas in the next decades. If successfully implemented, they offer the promise of urban renewal, sustainable production of a safe and varied food supply (year-round crop production), and the eventual repair of ecosystems that have been sacrificed for horizontal farming. Examples of projects on this theme can be given by the Vertical Farm tower, designed by Chris Jacobs; and the vue nocturne, designed by SOA architects. Projects that guide our steps towards a necessary transition in the production of food.
